This company was started in 1948 by Jaroslav Simandl to manufacture spare parts for the JAP. The demand for these was so great that Simandl started to build the complete JAP engine and manufactured his first design in 1950, a short stroke S 45 which was later renamed as the ESO. This company soon started to mount these engines onto their own frames and so manufacture the complete motorcycle ESO. Jawa is still, today, manufacturing and producing motorcycles and engines for long track, grass track, speedway and ice racing.
