Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. is an international corporation based in Japan. The company was named after its founder SHOZO KAWASAKI. Although Kawasaki and its subsidiaries manufature lots of different products it’s most visible product line is Motorcycles. Kawasaki began the development of a motorcycle in 1949 and this project was completed in 1952 with mass production starting in 1953. The engine wan a 4 stroke single cylinder, OHV, air-cooled 148cc with a maximum speed of 4PS at 4000rpm. It was in 1954 that the first Kawasaki motorcycle came on to the market under the name of Meihatsu. In the early 1960’s Kawasaki bought Meguro Motorcycle and since then Kawasaki has become the world’s major Motorcycle Manufacturer!
The first ATV kawasaki produced was the three-wheeled KLT200, in 1981. This was followed by a four-wheel ATV in 1985, the Bayou 185. Today Kawasaki’s ATV production includes a range of recreational as well as utility ATVs.
The company introduced its now ‘trademark’ jet ski in 1973, a stand up model with a 400cc two-stroke engine. This was followed by a two person jest ski and eventually in the late 80s came the two passenger sit down model – with this model came the ‘jet ski’ fame.
With Kawasaki’s traditional racing colour, GREEN., it has a list as long as your arm and beyound of racing titles they have wone starting with their first win with Dave Simmonds in 1969 when they won the 125cc World Championship. This was followed by kawasakis domination in the two wheel race word in Grand Prix Classes, Superbike Racing as well as Endurance World Championship amonst other titles. Today the Kawaski name is as famous, if not more than it was when it first made its mark on the motorcycle industry.
