This British company, based in Nottingham, was founded by Frank Bowden and built motorcycles from 1899 to 1906 and then again from 1919 to 1933. They also supplied engines to many well known manufacturers including Allegro, Dunelt, Mars, Coventry-eagle an Victoria. The 698cc flat-twins developed by this company were sheer luxury bikes but proved quite difficult to manufacture so production ceased in the early 1920s. This was replaced with the 798cc 60 degree V-twin engine machine which also only enjoyed a short life span. Most of the motorcycles produced by this company had chain drive. 1931 saw this company develop a commercial three wheel light delivery van with a 598cc engine. The upgrade for this came in 1934 – Raleigh Safety Seven – a 742cc V-Twin engine with a three speed gear box and four seats!
