Derbi was started in 1922 by Mr Simon Rabassa i Signla. From humble beginnings ina small garage, the company soon matured into the main Manufacturer in Spain. Having been 89 years in the business this year, Derbi still pursue technical evolution and this could be why they have had continued success in the industry. They are also involved with racing, having first participated in the World Championship in 1962. Angel Nieto from Spain was a key factor in their racing success. Nieto won five world titles, 2 of which were in the 125cc category.

The European hub is based in Barcelona, and it is here they concentrate on innovation and design. Their goal is to provide the best product in the market of 50cc - 125cc for their loyal customers.

In the year that Rampdale Ltd was born, the founder of Derbi, Mr Simeo Rabassa i Signla passed away.

Derbi offered four basic models to the market as follows:

In the Millenium year, Derbi provided us with the Senda R and the Supermotard, which both offered a revolution in the geared motorcycle sector.

In November 2009 Derbi revealed the following new models to the Milan Fair:

Derbi Sonar 50 2S
Derbi Sonar 125 4S
Derbi Rambla 300i

These revolutionaries in the world of two wheelers continued by reclaiming the 125 World Championship title and adding it to the tally of titles they already hold – 11 titles for riders as well as 8 titles as manufacturers.

Derbi then introduced the new Senda DRD EVO 50 for young riders and lovers of big bikes. This was a model created by young people for young people! With another new introduction, the Derbi Rambla 125/250i Derbi’s Scooter line becomes even stronger! The Rambla is said to be the sportiest high-wheel scooter on the market which will get you around the City very comfortably!
