Laverda is a one-time Italian manufacturer of high performance motorcycles. The motorcycles by this company gained a reputation for being robust and innovative. The roots of Leverda Motorcycle date back to 1873 when Pierto Laverda started an agricultural engine enterprise in Breganze. Three quarters of a century later, his grandson Francesco founded Moto Laverda S.A.S. and designed a small motorcycle. Initially this project was not taken seriously, however what started out as a small project, built in the kitchen went on to become one of the most successful motorcycles in history – a simple four stroke 75cc motorcycle with grinder forks. Over the next couple of years Laverda made quite a name for itself building small motorcycles of high quality. The company, right from its inception, modified and raced their bikes in distance and endurance events – to prove that their bikes had high durability. In 1951, the 75cc Laverdas finished 4th, 5th, 6th and 10th in the Milan-Taranto. Inspired by these results, the next year Laverda entered 20 bikes and they took 5 places!

Laverda carried on introducing new models of ever increasing capability and capacity – Off Road, trial and motocross were developed and were successfully raced whilst there street models earned respect and a good reputation with the riders because of their build quality, classy looks and low maintenance.
